Awareness programme on Human Rights at Rangpo

Gangtok, 24 May: An awareness programme on Human Rights was held at the Tourism Conference Hall, Rangpo on 23rd May, 2017 organised by Sikkim Human Rights Commission.

Dignitaries present on the occasion were SHRC Chairperson, Hon’ble Mr. Justice N.K. Jain, former Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim,  Smt Maya Cintury, Municiple President, Rangpo Nagar Panchayat,  Shri Mahesh Sharma SDM, Rangpo, Dr. Nidhi Sexena, Prof. Sikkim University. The SHRC chairperson mentioned that the motive of organizing this programme is to aware people about their human rights. He observed that all natural rights are human rights which a person has to get since his birth and also narrated upon the provisions of National Food Security Act, 2013 and different welfare schemes of the Central and State Government .

Smt Maya Cintury stated that every person irrespective of sex, caste, religion, economic status inherits human rights. She explained that any human right, if violated is an offence in law.

Mr. Mahesh Sharma, SDM, Rangpo also address had briefed on human rights. Dr. Nidhi Saxena, a professor at Sikkim University spoke on changing dimensions of rights of women in cyber law .
