Gangtok, 6 November: The Department of Psychiatry, Singtam District Hospital in collaboration with 7 Primary Health centers has initiated a special campaign to sensitize local traditional and religious healers on mental illness and psychosomatic diseases as a part of suicide prevention strategy in East Sikkim.Team of Doctors comprising of Dr Satish RAsaily ( Addiction Medicine Specialist), Dr Manoj Mishra ( Rangpo PHC), Dr Diam Pundi Lepcha ( Pakyong PHC), Dr Shetal Chettri ( Samdong PHC), Dr Bunnu Pakimo ( Sang PHC), Dr Sidhant Basnett ( Rongli PHC), Dr Roshni Tamang ( Machong PHC) & Dr Sajna Poudyal ( Rhenock PHC) shall conduct the said campaign in Singtam, Rhenock, Samdong, Machong, Sang, Rangpo, Rongli, and Pakyong with an objectives to reach out to local traditional and religious healers to educate them on early signs and symptoms of mental illness, depression, psychosis to develop better linkages to facilitate referral of mentally ill clients to health centers.
Dr Satish Rasaily ( East District Nodal Officer , Mental Health) informed that 90% of family members seek help of local traditional healers instead of mental health specialist for the treatment of mental illness. Most of them rarely seek psychiatric help because of stigma, ignorance and lack of education. Another disturbing fact is that almost 90% of mentally ill patients remains untreated and thereby negatively impact the prognosis of mental illness. It takes almost 5- 10 years to avail psychiatric consultation delaying treatment initiation even for those who seek help. Therefore, by the time they reached to psychiatrist, most of them are suffering with chronic mental illness.The key to effective treatment of mental illness is early diagnosis and prompt initiation of medical management of mental disorders. This highlights the importance of mental health education and developing a positive collaborative relationship with traditional healers. The Singtam DMHP Cell in collaboration with 7 Primary Health center has initiated a special project to educate local traditional/ faith healers on early signs and symptoms of mental illness to facilitate referral to health system considering the fact that almost 90% of mentally ill patients seek help of faith healers for the treatment of mental health problems.
Dr Manoj Mishra emphasized that mental illness is a disease of brain caused by chemical disturbances inside brain rather than an act of evil SPIRITS , past KARMA, WRONGDOINGS, OR an individual FAITH or written destiny. Brain diseases needs to be treated medically by psychiatrist and mental health experts. Recent scientific advances has lead to discovery of medicine that can treat mental disorders, suicidal behavior and addiction.
The team conducted the said camp at Machong PHC, Pakyong PHC and Duga BAC on 5 Dec 2016 to promote early identification of mental illness and facilitate referral to health centers for early intervention & treatment initiation.
Gangtok, 30 November: Col.(Retd.) D.N. Bhutia, Secretary Rajya Sainik Board, accompanied by all the Welfare Officers of Zilla Sainik Board and the Rajya Sainik Board staff called on Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Shriniwas Patil at Raj Bhavan on 30th November, 2016. They presented lapel (Flag Sticker) to Hon’ble Governor and the First Lady on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day which is celebrated on 7th December every year.Hon’ble Governor while enquiring about the Flag Day Fund raised last year also suggested the Sainik Board Officers to approach all schools, colleges, business establishments, temples and trusts, government departments, undertakings, industrial units, check posts and power projects for enhanced collection this year.
Col.(Retd.) Bhutia also apprised the Hon’ble Governor that RBI authorities in Sikkim has assured to exchange the old 1000 and 500 denomination currency notes collected through Flag Day Fund. Hence the general public are at liberty to donate the same if they so desire.
Hon’ble Governor on the occasion has appealed the citizens from all walks of life to come forward and contribute generously for Armed Forces Flag Day Fund for the welfare of retired and deceased soldiers of our country and their family members and dependents. “It is the time for all of us to acknowledge and show our concern to the valiant members of Armed Forces who are guarding our borders 24x7 and keeping us secure from the external threats”, Hon’ble Governor said.
“As the citizen of this great Nation, we must rise up to support by all means, the efforts being made by the Government to provide needed assistance and financial security to the dependents and family members of our Armed Forces. This has become all the more significant at present in the wake of numerous sacrifices being made by our security personnel fighting the menace of terrorism”, Hon’ble Governor further added.
Namchi, 30 November: A 26-Year old youth has been arrested by Namchi Police on charges of alleged sexual assault on a minor girl.The incident reportedly occurred several days back at Lower Boomtar, Namchi but came to light only yesterday and was reported at Namchi Police Station by the father of the victim.
Namchi Police have registered a case under section 376(I) of IPC read with section 5(M)/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 against the alleged accused and further investigation is on.

गान्तोक, 28 नोभेम्बर। मिशन एडुकेशन अन्तर्गत मानव उत्थान सेवा समितिले देशका गरीब नानीहरूका निम्ति स्कुल अन् व्हील्स पायलट प्रोजेक्ट आराम्भ गरेको छ। स्कुल अन् व्हील्स पायलय प्रोजेक्ट अन्तर्गत स्कुल स्वंय गरीब नानीहरूकोमा पुगेर नानीहरूलाई शिक्षा प्रदान गर्नेछ। आर्थिक विपन्नताका कारण स्कुल जान असमर्थ नानीहरूलाई शिक्षा उपलब्ध गराउने उद्धेश्यले मानव उत्थान सेवा समितिद्वारा यो स्कुल अन् व्हील्स पायलट प्रोजेक्ट आराम्भ गरिएको हो। हालै देशको राजधानीमा मानव उत्थान सेवा समितिद्वारा आयोजित राष्ट्रीय युवा संगोष्ठीको अवसरमा मानव धर्मका प्रणेता तथा मानव उत्थान सेवा समितिका संस्थापक सतपालजी महाराजको बाहुलीद्वारा स्कुल अन् व्हील्स पायलट प्रोजेक्ट अन्तर्गत मिशन एडुकेशन वाहनको लोकार्पण गरियो।'
एउटा क्लास रूममा परिणत गरिएको शिक्षक शिक्षिकाद्वारा सुसज्जित बस प्रत्येक दिन ती नानीहरूकोमा जो आर्थिक विपन्नताका कारण स्कुल गएर शिक्षा आर्जन गर्न असमर्थ छन् समक्ष पुगेर शिक्षाको ज्योति छर्नेछन्। स्कुल अन् व्हील्स पायलट प्रोजेक्टलाई देशको सबै राज्यहरूमा पुऱ्याउने मानव उत्थान सेवा समितिले लक्ष्य लिएको छ। स्कुल अन् व्हील्स पायलट प्रोजेक्ट अन्तर्गत बसलाई क्लास रूमको स्वरूप दिइएको छ। सीटको साथमा टेबल पनि जोडिएको छ। सम्पूर्ण पाठ्य सामाग्री लिएर प्रत्येक दिन बस गरीब मानिसहरूका बस्तीमा जानेछ र तिनीहरूका नानीहरूलाई एकत्रित गरेर शिक्षा प्रदान गर्नेछ।मिशन एडुकेशन मानव उत्थान सेवा समितिद्वारा सञ्चालित एउटा देशव्यापी महत्वकाँक्षी अभियान हो। गत वर्षदेखि मात्र आराम्भ गरिएको मिशन एडुकेशनले सफलतापूर्वक एक वर्ष पुरा गरेकोमा मानव उत्थान सेवा समितिले राजधानी दिल्लीमा नेशनल युथ मिशन एडुकेशन सेमिनार आयोजन गरेको थियो।

The meeting was chaired by Mrs Gloria Namcho, ADC, East. , Shri Nabin Kumar
Naik, State Director, NYKS Sikkim, B B Rai deputy director sports, Meenathapa
Inspector District industry centre, Ganesh Kumar pradhan ret. Principal
director AATC, Shri Pramod from IPR, Syed kazim Intern scholar NYKS also
attended the meeting:
District Youth Coordinator, while welcoming
the Chair and the members presented the Activities report wef. April to 18th
Nov.2016 and the remaining activities to be conducted within this financial
year. A copy of the report was handed over to all the members. The queries made
by the members including the Chair regarding functioning of NYK was clarified
by the State Director. He also explained about the new programme called
Neighbourhood Youth Parliament. He sought cooperation from the District
administration while implementing the said programmes. The members suggested
few changes in the remaining programmes and suggested to include Blood
donation, Awareness in Medicinal plants cultivation. Finally the members
approved the action plan made by NYK, Gangtok.
It was also suggested to write to District
collector informing about Youth Club Development programmes in advance so that
further necessary action from Administration side could be taken to make the
programme fruitful.
A selection committee to select one Youth
Club for Outstanding district level Youth Club Award was also constituted.
Next meeting will be held in Feb 2017. Meeting concluded with words of thanks
to the chair and the members.
Gangtok, November 20: District Hospital Singtam (DHS) has extended heartfelt gratitude to all contributors for their consistent supports and cooperation in making Singtam Hospital award winner of Kayakalp programme.
All the contributors were acknowledged with felicitation and appreciation in a special function organised at Mining/Rangpo on Saturday evening for rendering benevolent services to DHS.
Chief Guest of the occasion Health Minister Mr. AK Ghatani congratulated DHS for the achievement and praised instrumental role played in exemplary level of cooperation and public participations. He also assured to open Orthopedic ward in DHS at the earliest.
While congratulating DHS Zilla Adhakshya East Mr. Bimal Dawari recalled the contribution made by public and encouraged gathering to make DHS a model hospital in the country.
DG-cum-Secretary Dr K Bhandari congratulated DHS and all those who have delivered their services to achieve this award. While congratulating Jorethang CHC and Rangpo PHC for being winner in Kayakalp competition at CHC and PHC level, he applauded Rangpo PHC for bringing drastic improvement in various aspects. He also stressed to ensure quality health care system besides aspects of cleanliness, hyzine and sterlisation .
Earlier, Chief Medical Officer DHS Dr Tshering Laden shared an experience on momentous journey of DHS towards kayakalp with a power point presentation. she thanked every participants and marked strong bonding within team members, Rogi Kalyan Samiti and supportive community as the strength of journey. CMO also highlighted on the facilities being provided by the hospital and its achievements.
The program also saw colorful cultural performance which was attended by District Collector East, SDM Rangpo, General Manager NHPC, departmental officials along with local gentry. (IPR)

आयोजक समितिका सभापति विनायक शर्मा, नक्सलबारी-खोरीबारी गोर्खा नागरिक मञ्चका सभापति जयप्रसाद दाहाल, स्थानीय जेष्ठक नागरिक हरिप्रसाद शर्मा अनि मिनबहादुर खड्का, पञ्चायत सदस्य अमोल घोष तथा विजेता ट्रफी दाता स्व. बमबहादुर रायाका परिवार सदस्य सुश्री अनु छेत्री तथा उपविजेता ट्रफी दाता भूषण प्रधानको उपस्थितिमा सञ्चालित खेलमा सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमको पनि आयोजना गरिएको थियो। फाइनल खेलमा दुवै दलले विजय हासिल गर्न कडा परिश्रम गरे तापनि अघिबाटै दुई गोल गरिसकेको नेपालविरुद्ध गोल फर्काउन विरोधी दललाई हम्मे हम्मे परेको थियो।
विजेता तथा उपविजेता दललाई मेडल तथा ट्रफीसहित नगद राशि १५ हजार अनि १० हजार प्रदान गरिएको थियो। विजेता दललाई स्व. बमबहादुर रायाकी नातिनी सुश्री अनु छेत्रीको बाहुलीबाट ट्रफी प्रदान गरिएको थियो भने आयोजक समितिका सभापति विनायक शर्माको बाहुलीबाट नगद राशि प्रदान गरिएको थियो.। यसरी नै उपविजेता दललाई भूषण प्रधानको बाहुलीबाट ट्रफी अनि आयोजक समितिका सचिव विकास थापाको बाहुलीबाट नगद राशि प्रदान गरिएको थियो। टुर्नामेण्ट अवधिमा अम्पायरको भूमिका निर्वाह गर्नुहुने अर्जुन खड्का तथा लाइन्समेनको भूमिका निर्वाह गर्नुहुने देवीबहादुर राणा अनि शम्भु खड्कालाई पनि सम्मान जनाइएको थियो।
रम्फू, 15 सेप्टेम्बर: श्री जैन स्वेताम्बर तेरापन्थ सभा, गेटवे अफ् सिक्किमद्वारा आज पूर्व सिक्किम पश्चिम पाण्डम निर्वाचन छेत्र अन्तर्गत रम्फूको प्राथमिक स्वस्थ्य केन्द्रमा जनकल्याणकारी योजना अन्तर्गत एउटा रेफ्रीजेरेटर प्रदान गर्यो। समाचार अनुसार उक्त स्वास्थ्य केन्द्रको लेवर रुममा लामो समयदेखि एउटा रेफ्रीजेरेटरको कमी महसूस गरिएको थियो। केन्द्रका स्वास्थ्य अधिकारी डाक्टर मनोज मिश्रले नानी जन्मिने समयमा कतिपय इञ्जेक्सनहरुको आवश्यकता पर्ने तथा यी इञ्जेक्सनहरु 24 घण्टा नै रेफ्रीजेरेटरमा राख्नु पर्ने भएकोले रेफ्रीजेरेटर नहुँदा धेरै समस्याको सामना गर्नु पर्दै आएको बताए। उनले तेरापन्थ सभाका प्रतिनिधि मांगीलाल जैनसँग यस समस्याबारे चर्चा गर्दा उनले रेफ्रीजेरेटर प्रदान गर्ने वचन दिए र आज उक्त वचन पूरा भएको बताए।
आज मुख्य स्वास्थ्य अधिकारी डाक्टर छिरिङ लादेन अनि राष्ट्रपति प्रणव मुखर्जीद्वारा सम्मानित नर्स श्रीमती मधुकला मिश्रको उपस्थितिबीच रम्फूका चिकित्सा अधिकारी डाक्टर मनोज मिश्रलाई उक्त रेफ्रीजेरेटर हस्तानान्तरण गरियो डाक्टर मिश्रले यसरी स्वास्थ्य केन्द्रको निम्ति संघ-संस्थाहरुबाट यसरी सहयोग प्राप्त हुनु एउटा उदाहरणीय कार्य रहेको बताउँदै अन्य संघ-संस्थाहरूलाई पनि सहयोगको निम्ति अघि आइदिने अपील गरे। दानदाता मांगीलाल जैनले स्वास्थ्य केन्द्र सबैको निम्ति एक आवश्यक स्थान रहेको र समस्यालाई बुझेर आफ्नो संस्थाले रेफ्रीजेरेटर प्रदान गर्ने निर्णय लिएको बताए। उक्त रेफ्रीजेरेटर श्री जैन स्वेताम्बर तेरापन्थ सभा, गेटवे अफ् सिक्किमको पक्षमा इन्द्रचन्द मांगीलाल जैन लुनिया परिवारद्वारा प्रदान गरिएको हो। आजको यस संक्षिप्त कार्यक्रममा सुभकरण लुनिया, श्रीमती स्नेह जैन सहित अन्य सदस्यहरुको पनि उपास्थिति रहेको थियो।

देशको भविष्य निर्माण गर्ने महत्त्वपूर्ण जिम्मेवारी पाएका शिक्षक-शिक्षिकाहरूलाई हिजो शिक्षक दिवसको दिन एउटा भव्य कार्यक्रममा महामहिम राष्ट्रपति प्रणव मुखर्जीको बाहुलीबाट सम्मान जनाइयो।
मानव संसाधन विकास मन्त्रालयको आयोजनामा दिल्लीको विज्ञान भवनमा आयोजित एक समारोहमा देशभरिका शिक्षक-शिक्षिकाहरूलाई उनीहरूको आफ्नो कर्तव्यप्रतिको लगनशीलता र विद्यार्थीहरूलाई गुणस्तरीय शिक्षा प्रदान गरेबापत सम्मान जनाइएको थियो। यस किसिमको राष्ट्रियस्तरको सम्मान समारोहमा खोरीबारी ब्लक अन्तर्गत सुकारुजोत बतासी निवासी नेपालीभाषी शिक्षिका प्रभा आलेलाई पनि सो अवसरमा सम्मानि गरिएको छ।
खोरीबारी ब्लक अन्तर्गतको सुकारूजोतको मूल निवासी रहे पनि ४७ वर्षीय शिक्षिका प्रभा आले अरूणाचल प्रदेशको पपुम्पारे जिल्लाको पीटीसी बन्दरदेवा प्राथमिक पाठशालामा सन् १९८८ देखि कार्यरत रहेको परिवार स्रोतले जानकारी दिएको छ। शिक्षिका आलेले आफ्नो कार्यावधिमा विद्यार्थीहरूमा अनुशासन, विद्यालयको ढाँचामा परिवर्तन तथा गुणस्तरीय शिक्षा प्रदान गर्नमा उल्लेख्य योगदान पुराएबापद राष्ट्रियस्तरको सम्मान प्राप्त गरेका हुन्।
Gangtok, August 30: Sikkim Legislative Assembly in a special sitting today passed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, officially referred to as Constitution Bill, 2014. With this, Sikkim becomes the 12th State in the Country to pass the GST Bill in the State Legislative Assembly. It may be recalled that the Constitution Bill, 2014 was passed by both the Houses of Parliament in the recently concluded monsoon session.
The Sikkim Legislative Assembly ratified the Amendment to the Constitution of India falling within the purview of clauses (b) and (c) of the proviso to clause (2) of article 368, proposed to be made by the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Second Amendment) Bill, 2014, as passed by both the Houses of Parliament. The Resolution was taken into consideration and passed by the House in the Fourth Session (Part-III) of the Ninth Assembly of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly today.
The Resolution was moved in the House by Shri. R.B. Subba, Hon’ble Minister for Law, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim, and passed by the House.
Chief Minister in his motion of thanks address thanked the Speaker and all the members of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly for conducting the special session and for passing the Resolution on Ratification of Constitution Amendment Bill, 2014.
The session concluded with Vote of Thanks by Hon’ble Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly Shri K.N. Rai.

नक्सलबारी, २९ अगस्त । भारतीय स्वतन्त्रता सङ्ग्राममा नेपालीभाषी गोर्खा समुदायको उल्लेख्य योदगानको रहेको चर्चा गर्दै नक्सलबारीस्थित निहालजोतमा बलिदान दिवसको आयोजना गरियो। भारतीय स्वन्त्रता सङ्ग्राममा मेजर दुर्गा मल्लको योगदान अनि उनलाई फाँसी दिइएको दिनको स्मरण गर्दै पालन गरिएको कार्यक्रममा वक्तायहरूले देशका निम्ति हिजो र आज पनि गोर्खाहरूले त्याग र बलिदान दिएको तर शासकवर्गले देशका गोर्खाहरूको योगदानको उचित मूल्याङ्कन नगरेको विचार राखे। 
नक्सलबारी-खोरीबारी गोर्खा नागरिक मञ्चको आयोजना तथा जयप्रसाद दाहालको अध्यक्षतामा सम्पन्न कार्यक्रममा प्रमुख वक्तापका रूपमा बोल्दै नक्सलबारी नेपाली हाई स्कूलका संस्थापक शिक्षक कृष्णप्रसाद गुरागाईंले भने, ‘देशको निम्ति हाम्रा पूर्खाहरूले पनि बलिदान दिएका छन्, तर त्यो बलिदानको गाथा इतिहासमा अङ्कित छैन। यसैले अब हामीले हाम्रो इतिहास लेख्नुनपर्छ।’ इतिहास जहिले पनि अतिरञ्जित हुने उल्लेख गर्दै गुरागाईँले मुट्ठीभर शासकवर्गले आफ्नै तरिकाले इतिहासको व्याख्या गरेको पनि उनले बताए। संसद भवन परिसरमा १८ फिट अग्लो दुर्गा मल्लको सालिक निर्माण गरिनु नेपालीभाषी गोर्खा समुदायको उपलब्धि र सान रहेको बताउँदै उनले यदि कसैले देशको निम्ति तिमीहरूले के गर्यौँम भन्छन् भने हामीले यस्ता तथ्यहरू देखाउनु पर्ने सुझाउ पनि उनले दिए।
मेचीचरजोत प्राथमिक पाठशालाका शिक्षक प्रेम थापाद्वारा सञ्चालिक कार्यक्रममा नागरिक मञ्चका सक्रिय सदस्य कृष्णप्रसाद दाहालले मेजर दुर्गा मल्लको जीवनी पाठ गरेका थिए भने नागरिक मञ्चका अर्का सदस्य भीम चामलिङले पनि सम्बोधन गरेका थिए। नक्सलबारी भेकका समाजसेवी तथा राजनीतिकर्मी दुर्गनारायण प्रधानको पनि उपस्थिति रहेको कार्यक्रममा नागरिक मञ्चका अध्यक्ष जयप्रसाद दाहालले आफ्नो सम्बोधनमा देशका निम्ति गोर्खा समुदायको योगदानको तुलनामा उपलब्धि कम्ती रहेको विचार व्यक्त गरे। नेपाली भाषा मान्यता र शहीद दुर्गा मल्लको सालिक निर्माण गरेर मात्र हाम्रो जातीय विकास सम्भव नहुने त्यसका लागि व्यावहारिक पक्षबाट समस्या समाधानको बाटो पहिल्याउनु पर्ने उनले बताए।
माउसेसद्वारा निमटारमा कृष्णजन्माष्टमी पर्व पालन
गान्तोक, 26 अगस्त। धर्म निरपेक्षतालाई पूर्णरूपले पालन गर्ने देशमा सिकिकम मात्र एउटा राज्य रहेको र सिक्किमवासीलाई आफ्नो धर्म मान्न कुनै पनि प्रकारको बाधाहरू नरहेको विधायक बेगबहादुर राईले बताएका छन्।
मानव उत्थान सेवा समिति गान्तोकद्वारा 32 नम्बर नजिक निमटार शिवालय मन्दिरमा आयोजित श्री कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी पर्वको अवसरमा मुख्य अतिथिका रूपमा उपस्थित रहेका विधायक बेगबहादुर राईले मुख्यमन्त्री पवन चामलिङको नेतृत्वमा सिक्किममा सबै जात जातिको संस्कृति परम्परा, भाषा, धर्मले फस्टाउने अवसर पाएको आफ्नो सम्बोधनमा बताए। दिग्भ्रमित भएका युवाहरूलाई धर्मको माध्यमबाट नै सही मार्गमा डोऱ्याउन सक्ने बताऊँदै विधायक राईले तर धर्म र जात कै नाममा केही सिक्किम विरोधीहरूले युवाहरूलाई दिग्भ्रमित गर्ने प्रयास पनि गर्नेगरेको सम्बोधनमा बताए।
विश्वमा सद्भावनाको ज्ञानलाई प्रचार प्रसार गर्ने मानव उत्थान सेवा समिति र यसका संस्थापक सतपालजी महाराजको कार्य अति नै सराहनीय र प्रशंसनीय रहेको र हामी सबैले महाराजजीले देखाएको मार्गमा हिड़ने प्रयास गर्नपर्ने विधायक राईले बताए। धर्म शास्त्रमा लेखिएको असल विचारहरूलाई जीवनमा उतार्नु पर्ने बताउँदै विधायक राईले कसैले कसैको धर्म र आस्था पनि आक्षेप गर्नुहुँदैन भनी सम्बोधनमा बताए।
यसरी नै मानव उत्थान सेवा समितिका महात्मा पूर्ण बाईजी र महात्मा कृतिका बाईजीले कार्यक्रमलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै श्री कृष्णजन्माष्मटी पालन गर्नुको औचित्य माथि प्रकाश पारे। भागवत गीताको ज्ञानलाई मानिसले आत्मसात गर्नपर्ने बताऊँदै महात्मागणले गीताको ज्ञानले मात्र संसारबाट हत्या हिंसा अन्याय शोषणलाई मेटाउन सक्ने बताए। जन्माष्टमीको यो अवसरमा समितिका कलाकारहरूद्वारा अध्यात्मिक भजनहरू प्रस्तुत गरेका थिए भऩे बालकलाकारहरूद्वारा नृत्य प्रस्तुत गरिएको थियो।
Gangtok August 24: A team of Japanese investor's delegation led by Principal Secretary, Information Technology, Mr. Govind Mohan called on the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling at Mintokgang his official residence this morning.
The Japanese delegation is in the state to explore investment opportunities and looking forward to set up manufacturing units for Drones and robotics in the initial phase. The delegation during the call on informed the Chief Minister that the environment in the state is very conducive for setting up of plants to manufacture high level electronics and Sikkim also has the potential to become a manufacturing hub.
On the other hand Chief Minister Mr. Chamling while welcoming the delegation informed that Sikkim is the most peaceful and the only organic state in the India, with investor friendly policy.
We consider investors of clean industry as true development partners of the State, Mr. Chamling informed. He also added that the government will extend all possible help, cooperation and support to the investors.
This project dealing with developing the unmanned aerial vehicles if it materializes will be India’s first Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in building drones.
No where in the nation Drones are manufactured and if the investors comes up with the manufacturing unit in the state , Sikkim will be the first state in the nation to have a drone manufacturing plant.
The Japanese delegation during the meeting with the Chief Minister also informed him that in order to support, train and offer job opportunities for the educated locals of the State, the Institutional Collaboration Model will be adopted.
The Principal Secretary Information Technology Mr. Govind Mohan during the meeting also suggested that Tourism Collaboration with Japan, where Japanese tourist can visit Sikkim for pilgrimage and also floated an idea of organic cultural connection between Sikkim and Japan. (IPR)
Namchi, 14th August: To celebrate the 70th anniversary of India's Independence a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), South Sikkim was held at Community Hall, Namchi today. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Assistance District Collector Mr. Tushar Nikhare alongside officials and representatives from NYK, South.
It maybe mentioned here that Tiranga Yatra is a part of ‘Yaad Karo Qurbani’ programme to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters ahead of Independence Day.
Addressing, the gathering Chief Guest Mr. Tushar Nikhare spoke about the historical significance of celebrating the 70th Independence Day and emphasized that the sacrifices of the freedom fighters should be ingrained amongst the general public. Additionally, he spoke about the importance of inculcating elements of patriotism and nationalism of our country especially concerning the youths. Similarly, he exhorted that the youths should take immense pride in the holistic growth of our country and further encouraged them to contribute positively towards the development of the nation.
The tiranga Yatra was flagged off by the Chief Guest from community hall and covered various areas namely Jorethang Road and Central Park, Namchi. The participants of the Yatra comprised of volunteers and officials from Nehru Yuva Kendra, Namchi. An open Quiz competition and cultural extravaganza formed the highlight of the day.
Mumbai: Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri A. K. Ghatani attended the Global event of World Hepatitis Day (28th July) organized by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India in collaboration with the World Health Organization on Thursday.
On the occasion Mr. Ghatani submitted a priority list of demands of Health Departments to the Union Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India Ms. Anupriya Patel here at JW Marriott Hotel, Mumbai on Thursday evening.
While submitting the demands, Mr. Ghantani acknowledged Ms. Anupriya Patel on the prioritized projects of the state govt. including Construction of 300 bedded Chest, Respiratory Disease and Tuberculosis Hospital at Bharikhola on Melli Jorethang Road; Upgradation of 100 bedded District Hospital to 300 bedded Hospital at Namchi, South Sikkim; Upgradation of Pakyong PHC to 50 bedded CHC, East Sikkim; Upgradation of Jorethang PHC to 100 bedded CHC, South Sikkim; Construction of 300 bedded District Hospital at Chisopani Singtam East Sikkim. Ms. Anupriya patel also complimented Sikkim as an inspiration for the nation in Organic Farming when she was presented with organic products along with a magazine of Sikkim Today, a publication of IPR deptt by Mr Ghatani. 
The event was organized with the global theme “Know Hepatitis, Act Now” which would help in understanding the magnitude of the problem and identify the way forward on prevention and control of Hepatitis.
Minister Anupriya patel highlighted on the Mission Indradhanus under which children are being vaccinated against various types of diseases and so far 7.6 million children have been covered under this mission. Referring to the statement made by different speakers earlier, She assured that the union govt. has shown keen interest to combat viral Hepatitis with complete consciousness and seriousness and also planning to allocate separate budget to ensure universal coverage.
The keynote speaker, Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan also delighted the event with his magnificent deliberation. Minister Ghatani also invited Bachchan and urged him to expose the beauty of Sikkim in Bollywood Industry while presenting organic items and the state govt`s publication Sikkim Today. Mr. Bachchan also expressed gratitude over the achievements of Sikkim in Organic Farming. In his address, Mr. Bachchan encouraged people to go for blood test at least to be aware on the fact of blood containing, so that it can be cured in initial stages. He articulated his incident of being infected with Hepatitis in early 80s and was cured even when his lever was 75% damaged. He further committed to contribute immensely to prevent Viral Hepatitis.
Regional Director of WHO South East Asia Region Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh also applauded the initiatives of Sikkim govt for being first state to start Hepatitis B vaccination in infants as a universal immunization programme free of cost and successfully continuing since 2001.
The programme was also attended by Ministers from various states, Director General Health Services GoI, representatives from World Hepatitis Alliance, UK and other dignitaries.
