Union Minister Smt Irini lauded the efforts made by the state of Sikkim in the field of organic farming and Swatch Bharat Abhiyan.

Gangtok June 25: Union Minister, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Smt Smriti Zubin Irini chaired the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting on “Teacher’s Training” at local hotel here in the capital today.

In a brief interaction with the media the Union Minister Smt Irini was all praise for the state of Sikkim and particularly lauded the efforts made by the state of Sikkim in the field of organic farming and Swatch Bharat Abhiyan.

The state of Sikkim maybe a small state in size but its heart is really big, Smt Irini affirmed.
She also informed that she was very impressed with the people of Sikkim who seemed to be very friendly and always smiling, and also added that she really admired the cleanliness and the beauty of M.G Marg the main town area of the capital city of Gangtok.
Smt Irini was also very vocal about the good Governance of the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling led government and added that commendable works have been done in the field of education in the state of Sikkim. Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan has also been very successful in Sikkim, she added.

When asked about when the state will have its state University, she stated that her Ministry is positive about the demand of state University in Sikkim.

 

This was her first visit and she also informed that she will came back in the month of August 2016 again, while adding that she will have some good news to share then.

 

On the sidelines of this meeting the representatives of three ethnic communities of Sikkim Bhutia Lepcha and Limboo also met with the Union Minister Smt Smriti Zubin Irini and presented her with letter of appreciation for introducing these three languages at the Post Graduation level in Central University (Sikkim) and also submitted a Memorandum for Languages Preservation and Promotion of Sikkimese Bhutia, Lepcha and Limboo to the Union Minister.
