Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department organised plantation programmeon the occasion of “Ten minutes to earth”
Gangrok: A plantation programme “Paryavaran Mohatsav” was organized by Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department on the occasion of “Ten minutes to earth” as envisioned by the Hon’ble Chief Minister.
The plantation drive was carried out at 9th mile, the department planted saplings of amliso and hathibag in the slopes of 9th Mile particularly to mitigate landslide. Secretary cum Relief Commissioner, Shri Tsegyal Tashi, said that 9th mile has been trouble spot for commuters for many years. He hoped with today’s plantation would further strengthen the landslide mitigation efforts in the area.
The plantation drive saw the participation of Officers and Staff of Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department led by Additional Secretary, Shri. Rinzing Chewang, Officials from Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, National Land Records Management Project, Civil Defence Members, GREF, Forest and Wildlife Management Department.
