Sikkim Students Participate at Yoga Olympiad in New Delhi

Gangtok: A group of 16 students comprising teams with 04 students in Elementary level boys and girls and Secondary level boys and girls are participating at the National Yoga Olympiad at NCERT campus in New Delhi from June 18 to 19, 2016 among the 24 States and Union Territories of the country.

These 16 students have demonstrated and participated in the competition and would be a part of the mega event of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2016 in New Delhi.

Hon’ble Union Minister for MHRD Smt Smriti Zubin Irani was the Chief Guest for the event of June 18, 2016 while the event of June 19, 2016 was attended by Deputy Director, MHRD and Chairman, NCERT. 
A special function is being organised at Talkatora Stadium on June 20, 2016 where Hon’ble Minister, MHRD, Smt Smriti Zubin Irani will be the Chief Guest.

The Sikkim team, which is headed by Sri Laxuman Adhikari, State Yoga Coordinator and three yoga instructors Smt Goma Sharma, Smt Meena Subba and Miss Bindhya Subba, will return on June 22, 2016. 
Back home, a group comprising of 1000 students and 24 teachers from and around Gangtok will be demonstrating yoga at the Paljor Stadium on June 21, 2016. A thorough rehearsal together with the participants from NCC, NSS, ITBP and other volunteer organisations was done here at the Paljor Stadium today.
