नयॉं दिल्लीः गत १२ जुनका दिन मुख्यमन्त्री पवन चामलिङको नेतृत्वमा सिक्किमका थॉंतीमा रहेका विभिन्न राजनैतिक मुद्धाहरूको समाधानको निम्ति दिल्ली हिँड़ेको राज्यका विधायकगण अनि सांसदको जम्बो टोलीले आज प्रधानमन्त्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदीसित भेट गरेको छ|
यस अवसरमा मुख्यमन्त्रीको नेतृत्वमा रहेको जनप्रतिनिधिको टोलीले प्रधानमन्त्री नरेन्द्र मोदीको सिक्किम विधानसभामा लिम्बू-तामाङ समुदायको निम्ति सिट आरक्षण, जनजाति बन्नबाट छुटेका ११ समुदायलाई जनजातिको मान्यता दिएर सिक्किमलाई एक जनजाति राज्य बनाउनु पर्ने, रूम्तेक गुम्बामा १७औं ग्याल्वा कर्मापालाई आउने अनुमति दिनपर्ने सहितका थॉंतीमा रहेका अन्य विभिन्न मुद्धा विषयमाथि ध्यानाकार्षण गराएको छ|
राज्य सरकारको पक्षबाट मुख्यमन्त्री पवन चामलिङको नेतृत्मा आज प्रधानमन्त्री श्री मोदीसित सिक्किमका सबै राजनैतिक एवं विकासिय मुद्दाहरूमाथि चर्चा गरिएको र सिक्किम र सिक्किमे जनताको पक्षमा लामो समयदेखि थॉंतीमा रहेका मुद्दाहरूको समाधानार्थ प्रधानमन्त्रीको ध्यानाकार्षण गराइएको जानकारी प्राप्त भएको छ|
2. During the discussions with the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the HCM explained in detail the basis and rationale of the aforesaid demands. In regard to reservation of seats for Limboo & Tamang communities in SLA, the Hon’ble Prime Minister was apprised that the detailed proposal of Government of Sikkim (GoS), which was under consideration in Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India (GoI), should be approved in the form proposed, in order to preserve and protect the democratic rights and privileges of all the different ethnic communities of Sikkim. He expressly stated that the 12 BL seats and the 1 Sangha seat should be protected as they are protected by Article 371F of the Constitution of India.
3. As regards restoration of equal socio-economic status to the left out ethnic communities of Sikkim, it was explained that the proposal submitted by Government of Sikkim to Government of India - which recommends that apart from the Bhutia, Lepcha, Limboo and Tamang communities, who have already been recognized as Scheduled Tribes (STs), other communities included in the Sikkimese Nepali constellation may also be included in list of STs of the State - had been recommended by a High Level Committee constituted by the State Government under late Professor BK Roy Burman, noted anthropologist.
4. The presence of 17 Gyalwa Karmapa, His Holiness Orgen Trinley Dorjee, in Rumtek, Sikkim will further enhance the tranquility of the State, and contribute to the spiritual development of the people of the simple and religious minded State of Sikkim. This long standing demand be acceded to immediately.
5. As regards the development package for Sikkim, it was explained that the award of XIV Finance Commission has caused unprecedented loss and damage to the State to the tune of Rs. 10,000 crore, over the 5 year period 2016-2021. The package was intended to redress this injury and enable the State to continue its march towards development and progress, with even greater pace and intensity.
6. The Hon’ble Chief Minister, lastly, pressed for inclusion of Lepcha Tribes in the category of Most Primitive Tribe in the context of Sikkim.
7. Hon’ble Prime Minister accorded a patient and sympathetic hearing to the delegation. He promised to have the concerned Ministries/ Departments of Government of India examine the genuine demands of the Sikkimese people, as articulated through the Memoranda submitted by the Chief Minister and the high ranking delegation, and thereafter take appropriate necessary action.
8. Hon’ble Chief Minister expressed the gratitude of the State Government to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, in taking keen personal interest in the affairs of the State and extending all help and assistance.

1. Shri Pawan Chamling, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, accompanied by a high level delegation from Sikkim, met Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister in South Block, New Delhi, on June 15, 2016.
