DFP, Jorthang Unit Organised Health Programme at Upper Rimbik on RMNCH+A

Gangtok, 24 February: Directorate of Field Publicity , Jorethang Unit organised a two day Health Programme on 23rd and 24th February,2017 at Upper Rimbik Secondary School Premises on RMNCH+A. The programme was coordinated with the local Panchayat , School Authority, State ICDS department, with the state Health Department , ASHAS, Anganwadi workers .

The programme began  with  a rally which was flagged off by honourable Yangthang Constituency MLA Ms. Chandra Maya Subba, which was participated by  students ,Anganwadi workers  and with members of the public .

Addressing  the programme the area MLA of Yangthang Constituency Ms. Chandra Maya Subba, called upon the people to make the organic mission of Sikkim a success .Speaking as the  chief guest  she said that this would help to lead to a healthy life style,and the importance  can be seen by the fact that  the  Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi has also been urging other states in the country to adopt the example  of Sikkim for organic  state. She also urged for organising more  such awareness programmes  in  far flung areas.

Among the Resource Person, Shri Krishna Limboo, Head Master, said that Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan, should kept by everyone as apart of their life, so that the Rimbik can be example of cleanliness .Further he said  that our place is free from open defecation our people know it very well from past  .

Shri H.B. Sankher, CDPO, Geyzing,  in his speech called for  community participation in all the ICDS/Central activities. He said the RMNCH +A   programme that provides an integrated approach for conveying  basic services for improved approach for conveying basic services  for improved child care, early stimulation and learning health and nutrition health.  He also highlighted  the component of Nutrition and Health and nutrition message related to child care , infant feeding practices, utilization of health services, Family planning and environmental sanitation

 Smt .Lakhmit Lepcha, Supervisor, ICDS, Geyzing,   she spoke on   Small family Schemes of the State Government, highlighted the various facilities being given under the ICDS from birth registration to child care. Further she spoke on the scheme IGMSY and  Kishori Shakti Yojana  for adolescence  girls that is implemented by ICDS and the importance of  immunisation , growth monitoring small group meetings of Mahila and Balika Mandal, Community and home visits and gathering  for nutrition and health education.

On the second day   , the programme was grace by the Panchayat President Shri Pranay Limboo, as a Chief Guest.  Resource person Smt. Bindya Subbedi, Health Educator, Geyzing, stressed  the importance  by giving the demo on the proper technique of hand washing, Explaining that the  n  programme  is on on  Health   she focused  on the Rastriya Bal Swasthakaryakarm (RBSK) where  from  a child  from 1 year to 5 year has to be part of the  ICDS centre and from 6 to 19 years the health check up has been take place in the school. Further she  discussed about the Janani Suraksha Yojan Scheme which promote   institutional deliveries . Smt Subedi  also  discussed  the  various Immunisation that are introduce  under UIP, which aims to immunise  the children against 3 DPT (Diptheria , Pertusis , tetanus). On  Child care she said that the adolescence  and all school children are given  biannual deworming tablets were given to the school children that are under taken the school health programme .

Director, DFP,West Bengal (north) and Sikkim  , Ms. Jane Namchu, in her speech mainly focused on adolescence  children. The programme like Quiz, demonstration  on balance diet in the stall provided from ICDS Centre and    Health Camp from CHC Rimbik was organised during the programme.
