Senior Government officials arrested by Vigilance in Ration Card Scam

Gangtok, 7 December: Two government officials, one Special Secretary and another Food Godown In-charge have been arrested by Vigilance Police on 5th December, 2016 on the charge of Criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal misappropriation on falsification of accounts.

Shri Dadul Tshering Lepcha, the then District Civil Supply Officer (DCSO) of Food and Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CA) and presently functioning as Special Secretary, Water Resource and River Development Department, Government of Sikkim and Shri Sarad Tamang, Food Godomn In-charge of Singtam Under FCS & CA were arrested on the allegatons of their involvement in dishonesty siphoning off money collected from the public while issuing computer printed ration cards to them. Both the arrested officials have been remanded to police custody for seven days.
