Minister Poudyal attended the Annual Day Celebration of Simick Lingzey JHS

Gangtok December 9: Area MLA cum Cabinet Minister Mr. Somnath Poudyal attended the Annual Day Celebration of Simick Lingzey, Jr High School as the Chief Guest today.

The Annual day celebration  which was a cultural and sports extravaganza was witnessed by a big gathering of students, parents and local gentries.

During the celebration the Chief Guest and the area MLA Mr. Somnath Poudyal as a mark of respect felicitated the first Head Master of the School Mrs. S.K Rai, she was presented with shawl and memento.

On the occasion the people who had donated land for the school were also felicitated by the Chief Guest and presented them with a memento.  

Addressing the gathering the Chief Guest Mr. Poudyal was all praise for the Head master and the teachers of the school who had informed him that they want to make the school a model school in the state. 

He also added that if everyone contribute and work hard then nothing can stop the school from becoming a model school.

Minister Mr. Poudyal also urged the students to work hard and give their best towards their studies and academics while stressing that only becoming a literate is not enough one has to be educated too in-order to become a successful and good human being.

He also highlighted the various developmental programmes of the government in the field of education, agriculture and horticulture and how under the stewardship of the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling the state has made rapid strides towards the path of prosperity.

Education is must  for any place, state or country to develop, therefore the students and the younger generations of the state should know the value of education and make an earnest effort and stride forward to achieve it, Mr. Poudyal stressed.

The annual day celebration was also attended by the former Deputy Speaker, Mr. Mingma T Sherpa, and former Sangha MLA, Acharya Tshering Lama as special guests.

Earlier the annual day celebration began with the welcome note by the Head Master of the School Mr. Phurba Sherpa who while welcoming the guests also presented the annual report of the school.
