Hishey dedicates BRO Bridge at Backcha Chu to the people.
Asks people to lend all out support to Project Swastik.
GANGTOK, 10 December : Shri Hishey Lachungpa, MP, Rajya Sabha has stressed on creating a viable road infrastructure in the border State of Sikkim.This will not only strengthen the country’s security but will also add to promotion of tourism, he said.
Shri Lachungpa was addressing the gathering before inaugurating the newly constructed Bakcha Chu bridge on the North Sikkim Highway today.The Highway has been now declared as the National Highway 310-A.
Speaking on this occasion, he appreciated the works done by BRO in Sikkim state. He expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of work done by Project Swastik. He acclaimed BRO for its tireless efforts in improving the road infrastructure and connectivity to the remote areas of North Sikkim. Shri Lachungpa was emphatic that various road & bridge work including tunnel construction at Theeng by Project Swastik will boost the tourism and socio-economic development. He specially appreciated the remarkable work done by 129 RCC under 758 BRTF between Tingda and Bakcha Chu. He assured his full cooperation to BRO and urged State Govt. Departments to expeditiously resolve the BRO related issues like issuance of NOC and environment clearance. Shri Lachungpa called upon the people to lend their all out support to the Project Swastik in its endeavour to create a viable road connectivity in the State.He also urged them to keep the roadside drainage unclogged and go for large scale plantation along the roads.
The Chief Engineer of Project Swastik Brigadier G S Kambo thanked the Rajya Sabha MP for appreciating the works being done by Project Swastik, BRO. He expressed his gratitude over the cooperation extended to Project Swastik, BRO by civil administration and concerned State Govt. Departments. Chief Engineer informed the audience that BRO has recently constructed 22 Km long highest motorable road of North East region in North Sikkim at an altitude of 18100 feet through Donkiya La pass. Brigadier Kambo further mentioned that improvement work on Dikhchu-Sangklang road has also been commenced and 04 new bridges are coming up on this road shortly. There are also a number of other permanent bridges coming up on the axis of North Sikkim which in future will provide enhanced comfort for tourists and the citizens of Sikkim,he said.
Later,Shri Hishey Lachungpa unveiled the inauguration stone and walked over the 120 Mtr bridge constructed at a cost of Rs.13.76 crores.Kabi Lungchuk MLA Shri Ugen Nedup Bhutia,Commissioner GMC,Shri Tshewang Gyatso Bhutia,EX-ADGP Shri TT Tamang were also present on the occasion among others.
