Nehru Yuva Kendra organized ‘Tiranga Yatra’ at Community Hall, Namchi today

Namchi, 14th August: To celebrate the 70th anniversary of India's Independence a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), South Sikkim was held at Community Hall, Namchi today. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Assistance District Collector Mr. Tushar Nikhare alongside officials and representatives from NYK, South.

 It maybe mentioned here that Tiranga Yatra is a part of ‘Yaad Karo Qurbani’ programme to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters ahead of Independence Day. 

 Addressing, the gathering Chief Guest Mr. Tushar Nikhare spoke about the historical significance of celebrating the 70th Independence Day and emphasized that the sacrifices of the freedom fighters should be ingrained amongst the general public. Additionally, he spoke about the importance of inculcating elements of patriotism and nationalism of our country especially concerning the youths. Similarly, he exhorted that the youths should take immense pride in the holistic growth of our country and further encouraged them to contribute positively towards the development of the nation.

The tiranga Yatra was flagged off by the Chief Guest from community hall and covered various areas namely Jorethang Road and Central Park, Namchi. The participants of the Yatra comprised of volunteers and officials from Nehru Yuva Kendra, Namchi. An open Quiz competition and cultural extravaganza formed the highlight of the day.
