Awareness Programme on against 'Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking' held at District Prison

Gangtok, July 4: Day long awareness programme on against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was held at District Prison, Namchi on Monday.

Awareness programme was organized by North Calcutta Prayasi, a cultural troupe of Song and Drama Division (Eastern region) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India with cordially coordination with South District Administration Namchi.

District Collector (South) Raj Yadav explained how a person as a parent, as an elder and as a teacher can help youth to stay away from drug and its addiction and that addiction leads to crimes, like theft, dacoity, cheating, murder etc.

This effort was to motivate the locals to stay away from substance abuse for their good health.

Besides that drama and dance were also performed on the streets to draw crowd and create awareness on drug menace.
