Mrs Kalawati Subba flagging off the e -waste collected at the GMC headquarter

Gangtok,June 29: The flagging off the e -waste collected  at the GMC headquarters was carried out for the second time from the GMC office at Deorali, here in the capital today.

Mrs Kalawati Subba, Chairperson State Pollution Control Board flagged off a truck carrying e-waste collected since 2014. 

This proper waste disposal of e goods is the first of its kind to be implemented by any state of India and it was initiated by the GMC along with the IT Department and State Pollution Control Board, Government of Sikkim.

The truck of e-waste is being send to G.S.Pigments a company based in Kolkatta where proper recycling and reuse of the materials will be carried out.

The disposal is also being carried out under the Pariyavaran Mahotsav awareness camp. GMC also takes this opportunity to appeal to all the local people to properly dispose of their e-waste at the collection center at Deorali, GMC office.
